I have not kept up as promised. So, I won't promise anymore but promise to try to be better. There is so much going on, so many things to post. This year has been extremely eventful and I will blog about it later. It's time to get ready for Christmas. Can't believe it's only 6 weeks from today and I have nothing done which I will blog about later, LOL. I have three great groups I started on Facebook: The official Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza fan page, Extremely Crafty Hoarders and Extremely Crafty Hoarders Holidays. Tons of DIY on Cath and Steve's various pages, lots of fun, swaps, recipes and just good old visiting on my other two pages. If you are interested in joining either, please give me a shout. I have a Facebook page of my own as well. That's it for today. Am busy working on slipper sox for my Etsy shop and for gifts and need to photo and post. I'll be adding more favorite Christmas recipes this week and will be trying new gluten free ones as w...

Went to the doctor today. Good news and bad news. Back is looking great, I've met two new patients and had my picture taken for the newspaper article. My foot and leg are no better so it's back to testing, CT scan, MRI and another blasted myelogram which I dread worse than surgery. If they can determine what is going on, hopefully it can corrected by surgery. Hopefully. Otherwise I'll be wearing flip flops all year long. Not a happy thought. My prayer is that this will be easily diagnosed and easily repaired. Really need everyone's positive thoughts and prayers. Pretty down today. I've tried for nine months to be positive but it has finally worn me down. Thanks everyone.

I haven't gotten much better about blogging. Exciting new things. My back is doing so well and I participated in an article for the Dallas Morning News about scoliosis. I have an appointment on Thursday for my 9 month check-up!!! Yay! And the photographer from the DMN will be there as well as a new patient for me to meet. We've visited on-line but now get to meet in person. I have had the wonderful opportunity to counsel prospective patients on the phone and the Southwest Scoliosis Institute has a super Facebook page to help us keep connected. My friend Molly had her scoli surgery yesterday and since the SSI is right across the street from Baylor Regional Medical Center Plano, I'll be able to check in on her as well. Busy, busy Thursday. But so worth it. I've started two new Facebook pages in addition to the Fan Page I help moderate for Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza. My new pages are Extremely Crafty Hoarders and Extremely Crafty Hoarders Holidays. We are off to...
Big Year For Me

It has been a year since I posted nearly! How bad is that? This has been a super big year for me. Last November I had successful scoliosis surgery. When I was 13 I was diagnosed with scoliosis with a noticable curve in my back. The curve was not at a degree that warranted surgery. So in 1968 I was fitted with Milwaukee Brace which I wore for the next 2 years. Over the years, I'm 56 now, the curve progressed to 60 degrees by 2005. The doctor I went to discouraged surgery because at the time my symptons were not bad. In 2008 my father became sick and eventually went to a nursing home. Mom and I spent all of our time taking care of him and by that time I was beginning to have severe symptons. My father passed away in March of 2009 and I simply couldn't put the family through my surgery right after losing Daddy. I called the Southwest Scoliosis Institute in June of 2010 and scheduled an appointment to talk with the surgeon. I wasn't able to get an appointment until last August...

Actually, I wrote a nice, long blog the other day. Computer went off line and it was gone. Couldn't even find it in the draft area. I will try to do better. Is anyone even reading this? Last winter I was diagnosed with celiac disease which is an auto immune delight! I initially ignored all the warnings and my doctor's instructions because it was kind of "so what". After beginning to research, I found so many of my health problems could, COULD, be attributed to celiac and having celiac is dangerous in and of itself. My doctor told me if I did not follow a gluten free diet, I have a 16% higher chance of colon cancer. Again, my response was, "that's all?" I'll wing it. I bought some books on Amazon and started reading. I won't go into the list of side effects you MAY have if you have celiac but suffice to say it scared the peewaden out of me. Gee, I may not be anemic anymore, or fatiqued all the time or really depressed....
