Happy Tuesday!

I haven't blogged in a few and haven't even posted the recipes yet. My apologies to all. My remodel angels finished up their part (for now) last Wed. late. I kind of let the clean up go Thursday and Friday waiting to find out about the granite. So, I'm behind needless to say. Remember, I'm the one that doesn't/didn't want granite in the first place. Mike said if, God forbid, we had to sell the house one day people would think we were cheap not putting in granite. Now, I don't give a rat's rear about that, I don't plan to move. But he is right and I have major back surgery looming in my future and we never know what can happen. I wish I would just happen on a burning bush like Moses and God would tell me which doctor to use. Basically, they are going to have to rebuild a portion of my spine and I'm sure it's gotten worse since my last tests. Surgery can last up to 6 1/2 hours which for me it will probably take longer, LOL. Sooooo, we'll see. Mike and I did go pick out a beautiful granite this past Saturday. I had found some Wilsonart laminate that had all the colors I needed to blend. I have Carol Endres wallpaper, Wilsonart floors, black appliances and the cabinets that are going to have a facelift. I took all of that into consideration and honestly found the perfect granite. The colors blend so well and will pull things together. Mike was right but I'm still not happy about the ceiling mess. I LOVE the ceilings but the mess is taking forever to clean up. On the other hand, every single thing is being cleaned, vacummed, dusted whatever before it goes back into a room. The countertop installers come next week sometime so I know there will be a bit more mess. My back can only take so much cleaning so I've accomplished my goal for today. I will try to rest and craft before I open a couple of cans of clam chowder for dinner tonight, VBG. I will take tomorrow off as I need to get Avon booklets out and I promised one of the guys down at our wonderful police department I would stop by. He has some admin. work for me to do and that counts towards my volunteer hours. Kris Kringle tomorrow for sure!!! Have a great afternoon everyone.

Tomorrow Mike and I will celebrate our first date 41 years ago! He didn't remember the right date when I asked him as men are sometimes want to do. I'll let it slide this time. Who knew 41 years ago when he took me to feast at Pancho's Mexican Buffet (all you can eat for $1.49) and then to one of the most lovely older theaters in Dallas that would be it for both of us. II can't remember the name of the theatre but it was elegant and beautiful. And I could still climb stairs without screaming in pain. We saw The Godfather. Falling Into Fall

Even though the temps are still hot here in north Texas, the air has changed. At least it seems that way to me. Grasping at straws.....quite possibly. LOL  But regardless, it lifts my spirit and I'll take that any day. Fall is my favorite time of year. Opening windows after living in air conditioning for months on end and before buttoning up for the colder air of winter and the heater. The leaves on our ornamental pears begin to turn a beautiful shade of maroon, the neighbors' trees are a riot of gold and orange and the leaves begin to fall. Yard work slows down. I swear every year I'm going to have a wonderful fall veggie garden and every year it doesn't happen. I have always believed we will have better luck in the fall rather than our non existent spring that quickly melts into a hot and dry summer. One of these years I will have to follow through. Life's a Hoot!

What has the Brod Abode been up too? Hmmmm so many things have gone on the last month or so. This Brod has become a Food Network addict. Again. And that is awesome because now all I want to do this "going to be Texas hot" summer is try new recipes! IF ONLY I didn't have to go to the grocery store. My dream kitchen would include a never ending pantry. Need it? It's there. Ah, I can dream. The bored om factor has been so great I've succumbed to the temptation of General Hospital again. First time in maybe, 20 years? Getting old is extremely interesting and so is double cataract surgery. And the rules that accompany said surgery. I think I have discovered that they have discovered I can be an ornery patient. I guess another old thing. An old EMT, VBG.
