What a Birthday!

What a lovely weekend and it continued into yesterday. I had dozens of birthday wishes on Facebook from some people I actually went to grade school with and many of us have remained fairly local. I can't imagine what we would have though back in the early 60s if someone had tried to explain a computer that would fit on our laps rather than take up one entire room. Or the concept of social networking. Or the fact that one day we would turn 58! On Friday our oldest, Joshua Michael 33, flew in from Crystal Minnesota. Mike and he had kept this a secret from me once again. He does this about three times a year and I'm always caught unaware. What a wonderful, blessed surprise. He and his dad went to the gun range to try out the newest gun we purchased for Josh for his birthday this month. Friday night they all headed out to our second son's, Jordan William 30, ice hockey game at 11:00 PM!!!!!! Too late for me and I was sound asleep when they got in. Saturday we hit what is fa...

Changing it Up!!

Howdy from north central Texas! It's Deb the blogger who never blogs! But I do have some changes in the works. First the title: has been changed from Fluffy Goat Feathers to The Brod Abode. The jury is still out on whether it will affect my page on Facebook and my Etsy shop. What do you all think? Is it better to have a uniform name and is it possibly confusing to have more than one name? I'm thinking of going with the one name just to keep it simple. Obviously I will never be the blogger Ree Drummond (LOVE) is or even some of the favorites I follow. That used to bother me because I thought the blog needs to follow in successful foot steps but I realized that's not necessarily me. I will occasionally have a meltdown here, something I'm sure Ree would never do and true crime may be discussed more than recipes or gardening stories. Although it will still fit the Fluffy Goat Feathers "layout" of gardening, crafting, cooking, reading, pet care, holidays it will...

Bring On The Clowns

Everywhere I look this morning is some blurb about "who won the debate" last night. I have asked myself time and time again do I REALLY care? Does it really matter in the scheme of things or simply the long run? I've thought about it and thought about it this morning wondering if I am just apathetic or I'm on to something. I've read scripture and prayed. And then, it came to me......if America doesn't win then what does it matter? Should the American people not be the winner in this election? We are not winning now and while I do not believe President Obama is capable of leading us out of this situation I wonder if Romney can do any better? Obama had positive, lofty goals which he was unable to achieve. I honestly believe he thought he could do what he said he could. And in his defense, the problems in our country started decades ago. You can't blame Obama or President Bush or Clinton or Reagan. Each has had a hand in the demise of our nation but I truly b...

OUR WEEK IN CALIFORNIA!

What a wonderful week I have spent. Last week Mike and I headed out to California to stay on the beautiful Queen Mary Hotel for a week. During October the Queen hosts "Dark Harbor" a Halloween/Frightfest celebration in their huge parking lots. We met up with friends on Sunday night to tour the maizes and be "terrified" by all types of ghouls and goblins. It was a super production and we all had a fun time being together. Earlier that day I had the privilege of meeting a sweet little doggie named Rosie. Rosie has her own Facebook page "Everything Rosie" and is the success story from a puppy mill and hoarder situation. A terrible, terrible situation in which she survived but has many, many physical problems. She lives now with  her mom Cinnamon and her dad out in California and is finally getting some much needed physical care but most importantly love and security. Mike and I were able to meet with Cinnamon at a park in Long Beach and spend a half an hour w...

I am putting together a list of some of my favorite blogs. These include FREE patterns, FREE tutorials for sewing, knitting, cross stitching and quilting! I sure do; it's very addictive and doesn't put any weight on me.  www.pinterest.com/debintex/  to see what I have been up to. One of my all time favorite blogs is Lindsay Wilkes's site, The Cottage Home. Known on the web as The Cottage Mama her blog is so cozy and relaxing. Some of you know I moderate two Hoarder groups on Facebook, we love all things crafty and together we could stock an enormous warehouse with crafting tools, all types and then some. We will be setting our shop up in tandem with our groups and will sell a variety of supplies in one convenient place. SO excited. I'm am purging my crafting/sewing/whatever hoard and we will be offering fast ship and quality merchandise unused or slightly used. I will keep everyone up to date but stay tuned!
